Delegation of Brazil
Committee: Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC)
Topic: Building Inclusive Trade Policies for a Resilient Global Economy – Strengthening Global Frameworks for Post-Pandemic Economic Recovery and Equity
Honorable Members of the Dais,

The delegation of Brazil stands before this council with a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive and resilient global economy. The COVID-19 pandemic exposed weaknesses in global trade systems, disproportionately affecting developing nations. As the largest economy in Latin America, Brazil recognizes the urgency of strengthening trade policies that promote equity, sustainability, and long-term stability. Through collaborative action within ECOSOC, we can build a trade framework that is fair and beneficial for all nations. Brazil’s economy suffered disruptions due to the pandemic. [...]

🎤 Speech – Interventi ufficiali

Honorable Chair, Esteemed Delegates,
Brazil is honoured to be here. Brazil strongly believes that sustainable green trade policies are essential for a resilient global economy. Current trade practices have contributed to environmental degradation, and it’s time to shift toward policies that prioritize sustainability and climate action. By integrating green tariffs, carbon pricing, and supporting industries that focus on sustainable practices, we can foster innovation and growth that benefits both the economy and the environment. Brazil, with its commitment to sustainable agriculture and bioenergy, is ready to lead this transformation. We invite all nations to join us in forging alliances that will ensure trade benefits both our economies and the planet for a future of shared prosperity.
Thank you.

Honorable Chair, Esteemed Delegates,
Brazil believes that a fair, transparent, and progressive tax system is essential for the recovery of developing countries. Taxes are crucial to fund sectors like education, healthcare, and infrastructure key to long-term growth and social stability. We must ensure that the tax burden is shared equitably, with particular attention to protecting the most vulnerable in our societies. It is also essential that developing nations work together to combat tax evasion and avoidance, which deprives us of critical resources. Brazil strongly supports strengthening domestic tax systems and adopting digital solutions to increase efficiency and compliance. By fostering trust between governments and citizens, we can ensure that taxes are used effectively for national development. In conclusion, Brazil is committed to policies that promote sustainable, inclusive recovery and shared prosperity.
Thank you.

Distinguished Chair, Honorable Delegates,
The delegation of Brazil,in honoured to be here and stands before this council committed to creating an inclusive and resilient global economy. The COVID-19 pandemic has starkly revealed the deep inequalities within global trade, disproportionately harming developing nations like Brazil. As the largest economy in Latin America, we call for a re-evaluation of global trade policies to ensure equitable access to markets, foster economic diversification, and address social and environmental concerns. Brazil believes that post-pandemic recovery must be rooted in fairness, sustainability, and inclusivity. Trade policies should support vulnerable populations, especially women, informal workers, and marginalized communities. We also urge the international community to eliminate trade barriers and promote digital transformation that empowers all nations, not just the wealthiest. Together, through multilateral cooperation, we can build a global trade framework that benefits everyone, ensures no country is left behind, and paves the way for shared prosperity and long-term stability.
Thank you.

Honorable Chair, esteemed delegates,
In the wake of the pandemic, the world has witnessed the power of unity and collaboration. As Brazil, we strongly believe that building a global network for recovery is crucial for ensuring no nation is left behind. By fostering stronger international partnerships, we can share resources, expertise, and technologies to support the most vulnerable countries and industries. A network focused on recovery would allow us to streamline trade, share healthcare advancements, and create opportunities for job creation in the post-pandemic world. It would also enable countries to quickly respond to future global crises with greater resilience. Through this network, we can accelerate economic recovery, reduce inequalities, and build a sustainable, interconnected global economy. Together, we have the opportunity to reshape our future and ensure that recovery is inclusive and prosperous for all.
Thank you.

🗳️ Resolution Paper – Il documento finale
